Over the next two years, $2 million is available for funding of wilding conifer control activities by community groups and trusts. The aim of this fund is to support community involvement in wilding conifer control and to improve public awareness of the wilding conifer problem.

From 3 May 2021 we will be accepting expressions of interest from community groups and trusts for funding of projects that directly contribute to the prevention and control of wilding conifers.

Using the application form and supporting guidance that will be made available on the Wilding Pines website, each project will be able to apply for $50,000-$250,000 to spend over two years.

We request that you pass on this information through your networks, particularly to community groups and trusts that you think may be interested in applying. While other parties (such as councils, government agencies and private landowners) are ineligible for this funding, they can support groups and trusts in the development of their applications and/or act as fund manager for the community projects if they are a legal entity.

The applications for the community partnership projects fund closed on Monday 14 June at 5pm.

If you have any questions, please contact the National Programme team on wilding.pines@mpi.govt.nz.
